Summers can never end without Mangoes, the king of Fruits. The residents of Haryana are quite familiar with this and the mango festival is the evidence to that. This festival is celebrated at Yadavindra Gardens which is situated in Pinjore. This place is twenty kms away from Chandigarh. The major reason behind this festival is to popularize the sales of mangoes in Haryana.
During this festival, many other varieties of mangoes from other states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Bihar. There are various competitions between the mango growers from across the country who enter their priced fruit in the competition and as a visitor you will get a chance to taste varieties of mangoes and mark them out during the Mango Festival. You can also see the new hybrid fruit that comes here for exhibition from India’s agricultural universities.
Different companies from agro based and other companies belonging to food products come here to exhibit their products. The products include jams, canned food and pickles. Apart from stall and mango exhibition, various functions and cultural programmes are also held to entertain the visitors. Competitions between food, other mango products and preserved food are also held. The Mango Festival reflects the Haryanvi culture.
The Mango Festival takes place in the interval of July or June.
